My aim is to create works that capture the vibrancy of being a growing individual in our world today. I am heavily influenced by music, skateboarding, snowboarding and tattoo imagery as well as personal traumas and triumphs. Much of my work has been influenced by loss, not the act itself, but everything after and before. Art that comes from the immense weight of all of the emotions experienced and memories fading. For me art is a way to remember, a way to forgive, a way to appreciate all of the continuous growth that has taken place. I want my work to feel slightly overwhelming to look at, like a messy room, or an anxious mind busy at work. I want some works to feel initially happy, through use of bright colors, and easily recognizable symbols while masking symbols of sadness, anger, and anxiety similar to a bright smile on a difficult day. Poking fun at the difficulties I have experienced within this life by softening concepts with calm pastels. My art is a mix of heavy complex pieces like the chaos of major change such as the losing of a loved one, with delicate works similar to the smaller changes that we don’t even realize are taking place like the forming of a wrinkle on a face. I want my artwork to encompass all of the changes that I am experiencing within this life in a way that leaves the viewer feeling struck by a strong sense of nostalgia coupled with panging curiosity.
